Free Skin Cancer Screenings by Local Dermatologists

“This year we’re hitting the road in a brand-new RV, funded by donations from our ‘Save Destination Healthy Skin’ campaign. The new RV is equipped with a wheelchair lift for greater accessibility and bigger shade structures to protect people in line. It offers an even better experience for our program participants,” says Becky Kamowitz, executive director of the Foundation. “The RV is also fuel-efficient and roomier than its predecessor. (There’s) with more space for participants in the waiting room and for storing educational materials.”

According to Kamowitz, about 65% of people who receive a screening through the program were never before screened for skin cancer.

“It’s likely that many of the suspected skin cancers identified onboard our RV would remain undetected if it weren’t for this program and our volunteer dermatologists,” said Kamowitz. “We’re grateful to partners like DSM-Firmenich, whose support helps us bring this public service to communities around the country. We know from participant feedback that Destination Healthy Skin has saved and improved lives.”
